ORGANIZATIONAL CONTEXT
Under the overall authority of the Assistant Director General for Education, the overall guidance of the Director of the Division for Peace and Sustainable Development, and the direct supervision of the Chief of Section on Global Citizenship and Peace Education, the incumbent will contribute to follow-up and implementation of the 2023 Recommendation by focusing on the development of new thematic and context-specific materials and their dissemination, as well as to capacity-strengthening and other targeted activities and support to Member States (with a particular focus on the LAC region).

Ikeda Center Education Fellows Program: Call for ProposalsEstablished in 2007, the Ikeda Center Education Fellows Program honors the educational legacy of global peacebuilder Daisaku Ikeda, and aims to advance research and scholarship on the internationally growing field of Ikeda/Soka studies in education. This field coheres around historical, conceptual, and empirical scholarship on the philosophies and practices not only of Ikeda but also of educators Josei Toda and Tsunesaburo Makiguchi, as well as the sōka, or “value-creating,” approaches they have enacted and inspired worldwide.
Fellows will be eligible for two years of funding at $10,000 per year to support doctoral dissertations in the field of Ikeda/Soka studies in education, including its relation to the philosophy and practice of education more generally. We invite a wide range of approaches, including dissertation research that examines intrinsic and extrinsic dimensions of Ikeda/Soka studies in education.
